Robotic Surgery

Robotic surgery is an increasingly common method for removing cancerous prostates (prostatectomy) and kidneys (partial and full nephrectomies). These procedures are performed using specialized equipment and require special training. These positive results are possible because of the better visualization and increased precision the specialized equipment provides over traditional open and laparoscopic surgery. Miniature incisions and a laparoscopic approach allow the potential for:

  • Reduced risk of incontinence and impotence for prostate cancer surgery
  • Quicker return to normal activity
  • Shorter hospitalization (most patients go home the next day)
  • Less blood loss and transfusion
  • Reduced pain (most patients do not require pain medication after discharge)
  • Lower risk of infections and complications
  • Smaller incisions for les scarring

Please note that while not all patients will have the same experience, we strive to provide robotic and traditional surgical and other services with minimal side effects and the best possible outcome. . It is also important to note that, as with all medical and surgical treatments, there are side effects associated with the treatment of cancer and other conditions.
